Donald Trump is the Clive Davis President

Though they would be loathe to admit it, Hollywood’s liberal elite paved the way for a Trump presidency, and Donald Trump is the perfect embodiment of the values these elites have been monetizing Interesting I’d love to hear your BYU interview. I will be out in Utah this weekend and Monday in fact. I have been thinking about why Mormonism is so successful at building and maintaining social capital. I think part of it is the proselytizing culture. It becomes a self-reinforcing feedback loop. Young people who are missionaries ~19-22 years old are much more likely to remain devout into adulthood and marry in the faith than those who don’t. They are very good at creating a youth-oriented culture that provides identity, bonding and meaning. The 1960s ruptured mainstream American youth culture and made it “square” to be traditional, religious, rule-abiding. This was very clear to me last week as I watched the debut of the Tribeca Film Fest, a documentary about the life of Clive Davis. As much as he is loathe to admit it, Clive Davis is partially responsible for Donald Trump. Reminds me of this chart on political identity:   James Dean–what are you protesting–What ya got?…
