Voters in Georgia’s 6th congressional district tomorrow will decide whether they will put qualms about President Donald Trump the person ahead of a substantive, conservative policy agenda. Traditionally a moderate Republican district, the special election is being held to fill the seat formerly held by Republican Tom Price, who vacated to serve as Trump’s Secretary for Health and Human Services. Now a close race, if voters swing the district Blue — a first since 1979 — it would be to replace the man who is working to repeal and replace ObamaCare. It’s understandable that Trump’s unconventional and abrasive style garnered so much concern among a successful suburban district exuberantly supportive of Mitt Romney in 2012 and John McCain in 2008 by nearly 2-1 margins against Democrats. Trump eked out a victory by just 1.5 percent over Hillary Clinton in 2016. Yet even the most ardent Never Trumper satisfied to vote Clinton, third party or protest vote in 2016 should ask themselves why they aren’t distinguishing between the legislative versus the executive branches.
