Democratic Congressman Says He Never Suggested Using ‘Second Amendment’ on Trump

Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.) told Bold TV he was “not calling for the use of guns or violence against our sitting president in any way, shape or form” in a townhall recording obtained by The New York Post saying that President Donald Trump’s opponents could use the Second Amendment to pressure the president for extrajudicial actions. Suozzi’s comments come in the wake of criticism against Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) for encouraging people to “create a crowd and you push back” against members of the Trump administration. “That was completely misrepresented by the crazy right media and the bloggers and the type, and what I was doing at the meeting was talking about the Second Amendment and what the purpose of the Second Amendment was when it was set up by the founders of our nation,” Suozzi said. “And the idea is that if the government becomes a tyranny, it’s the obligation of the people to revolt. I’m not calling for the use of guns or violence against our sitting president in any way, shape or form.
