Oprah encourages us to be the best version of ourselves, and we saw that in last night’s primary victory speech from Donald Trump. But this rare expression of substance was apparently delivered by script via teleprompter, that tool which Trump mocks President Obama for using. No doubt Trump, who is backpedaling from his racially-tinged attack on federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel, felt like he had to rein in his tongue, at least for one news cycle.  Trump has said that he won’t talk about the Curiel case anymore, but it’s hard to erase that memory from our national psyche. The American Creed is that the circumstances of your birth shouldn’t determine the outcome of your life. By continuously attacking racial minorities, women, the disabled and many others, Trump goes against this Creed and seeks to replace it with his own myopic version that appeals to a narrow swath of one segment of society. Trump is reading out of the progressive playbook: he’s using identity politics to sow discord and rip apart our national fabric. One decent teleprompter speech cannot overcome an estimated three billion dollars in free media this election cycle featuring Hurricane Trump…
